About Me

Hi, I'm Benjamin Gutierrez.

I am a director, producer, photographer, and visual artist based in Maryland. With a BA in Cinema and Media Studies from the University of Maryland, my filmmaking is deeply informed by a profound understanding of American Hollywood narratives and a sharp technical skill set spanning screenwriting, cinematography, and photography.

As a filmmaker, I lead projects from conception to completion, balancing the logistical demands of producing with the creative vision of directing. Beyond the set, I am a writer and analytical thinker passionate about exploring film culture. Whether creating visual art or writing about it, I strive to seek challenges and improve my craft.

Diversity Statement

My identity as a Mexican-Salvadoran American visual artist directly influences the kinds of narratives I want to bring to life. For me, leadership as a producer and director means building a safe, fair, and welcoming environment for everyone involved. I make a conscious effort to build diverse teams and collaborate with people from all groups and backgrounds. No matter who you are, if you are passionate about the craft and want to make great films, I want to work with you.
